Did anyone read the article in Bitch this month about "reality" porn? The author argues that sites like BangBus.com take degrading/quasi-rape porn to the next level by attempting to present it as reality rather than straight up fantasy.
I have to admit that these sites do rub me the wrong way personally, and I was just curious what others' thoughts on the subject are.

Re: Article in Bitch Magazine
Fri, October 22, 2004 - 10:49 AMHeh, I thought that too. But those amateur porn groups are staged. I know this because I know a guy who told me this who knew one of the girls on BangBus.
It is geared towards men. So we are not going to like it. We do not have to watch it. I am not agreeing with it. I think it's crap. But I am into free speech. -

Mon, October 25, 2004 - 9:13 AMi don't know that being geared toward men necessarily means that other people won't like it or even that men will like it. nor does not liking it mean i think it should be censored.
the question isn't really whether it's staged, but how it's presented. if we as feminists can attempt to change the portrayals of women in mainstream media, why can't we get pissed that we're being portrayed badly in porn? -

Re: Article in Bitch Magazine
Mon, October 25, 2004 - 10:41 AMWe can change the culture definition of women every day. Every time we stand up for ourselves, push for equality, and go for everything we want in life, we make a difference.
We need to encourage every girl and woman we know to do the same.
It is sad how young women loose their self esteem and confidence as they grow older.
I keep reminding subserviant, sheltered and prudish women to stand up for themselves and stop being second class citizens.

Re: Article in Bitch Magazine
Fri, March 25, 2005 - 6:32 PMYes, I heard of bangbus and it is completely disgusting. It's about a bunch of college boys who pick up women off the street in the guise of giving them a ride and then they end up used and sexed and left in the middle of no where. Talk about male frusteration and agression at women! It is for angry frustered undersexed men, or boys rather. My man said he downloaded some of their stuff before and got pretty angry.

Re: Article in Bitch Magazine
Thu, April 7, 2005 - 12:46 AMI consider reality sites to be more about hate and anger than sex. And I find it disturbing that guys are associating pleasure with seeing women being humilated. I won't promote these sorts of sites because I see them as being anti-sex. I don't believe in banning them, but I don't want to encourage people to find that kind of thing arousing.
